Why use Vertical weighing and bagging (VFFS) equipment?
Vertical equipment is the ideal solution for a wide range of free flowing products from crisps to coffee beans, salad leaves to frozen foods and more.
Through intuitive design pack formats can be quickly changed, cleaning is made simple and downtime minimised.
Highly configurable, our multihead weighers are designed to work both together or independently to help keep operations moving. Through the use of bucket coatings and pull down belts lighter and stickier products are kept moving to ensure production can run continuously.

VFFS & Multihead Weighers FAQs
What products is a vertical multihead weigher suitable for?
Multihead weighers are ideal for free-flowing granular or irregular-shaped products such as snack foods, crisps, nuts, confectionery, frozen vegetables, fresh produce, pet food and similar products.
What weights can a multihead weigher handle?
A multihead weigher can handle a range of 5 to 10,000g.
How many heads does the machine have, and how does that affect accuracy?
Common configurations include 10, 14, 16, 20, and 32 heads. More heads provide a greater number of possible weight combinations, statistically improving the chance of finding a combination that is very close to the target weight.
What is the maximum throughput of a multihead weigher (packs per minute)?
Throughput depends on the number of heads, target weight, product characteristics, and downstream equipment speed. It is best to check throughput based on your specific product and bag size.
Can vertical multihead weighers and bagging (VFFS) machines handle sticky, wet, or fragile products?
Yes, with the right equipment specification. Sticky products may require different surface finishes to prevent build-up. Whilst other more fragile products will require alterations to settings to reduce vibrations and feed products more gently.
What bag styles can a vertical bagging (VFFS) machine produce?
A standard VFFS machine can produce pillow bags (the most common style), gusseted bags, standing packs and flat-bottom bags.
What sealing system does the machine use?
Most standard VFFS machines use heated jaw sealing, where heated jaws apply pressure and heat to form the top and bottom seals. Temperature, dwell time (how long the jaws remain closed), and jaw pressure are all adjustable. Ultrasonic sealing is available on premium machines and is particularly effective for sealing through product contamination on the seal area.
