As Redpack continue to lead the way in “Trayless” flow wrapping development, Redpack are now the first company to introduce Trayless apples into some countries in Europe by working closely with apple growers and packers. With another three P325E-FI flow wrappers sold across Europe in countries such as Holland, a significant trend can be seen in the move towards flow wrapping apples without carrying trays or punnets, this brings immediate and significant savings in both packaging material and packaging costs as opposed to wrapping them with a tray. With the unique soft handling apple infeed and transfer method on the P325E-FI machine, this is the key to success for trayless products such as apples. The infeed pitch can be adjusted without additional change parts accommodating apple collations in “Soldier Packs” of 4-6-8 or 10 apples or accommodating apples in line without infeed change parts so collation to collation changes are fast and require minimum downtime. This design of infeed also enables Redpack to incorporate a feeder that feeds the apples straight onto the flow wrapper infeed to increase efficiencies which means packers can flow wrap at speeds of 60ppm. Another significant packaging feature with this machine is not only can you pack just products trayless you also have the ability to pack with trays.Of course it’s not just apples that can be wrapped because pretty much any graded top fruit, pears, plumbs, kiwi, oranges, lemons, etc. etc. can be accommodated on this machine.
